Cultural Cup 2.0: Rio
was a success

rio de janeiro

Alan Maquieira,
dance instructor,

A multinational audience filled the Books & Books east room for the presentation of Rio de Janeiro, the eight city presented at the CULTURAL CUP 2.0 series. Because of its unique place in Brazil's history, its spectacular natural settings and rich cultural traditions, Rio was the city chosen to be showcased in September, the month when we celebrate Brazil's independence.

The Cultural Cup is a yearlong cultural exploration of Brazil presented by Books & Books and CCBU. The series focus on the culture, traditions, arts, music and gastronomy of the twelve Host Cities of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the exciting worldwide soccer tournament that will happen in Brazil next year.

The special participation of the dance instructor Alan Maquieira who demonstrated and taught the moves of "Samba da Gafieira", added a true carioca dimension to the program.

During the evening, Floriana Martinez, American Airlines' representative, drew the name of the AA air ticket raffle. Yara Gouveia was the enthusiastic winner of the raffle. American Airlines is a sponsor of the CULTURAL CUP.
