Books & Books and the Centro Cultural Brasil-USA da Florida (Brazil-USA Cultural Center/CCBU) continue the yearlong cultural exploration of Brazil. Our series called CULTURAL CUP 2.0 will focus on the culture, traditions, arts, music and gastronomy of the twelve Host Cities of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the exciting worldwide soccer tournament that will happen in Brazil next year.

Our next stop is the city of

WHAT IS YOUR RIO? Rio de Janeiro, the most visited city in the southern hemisphere is known for its spectacular natural settings, cultural riches and monumental celebrations. Special Participation: Alan Maquieira, dance instructor, will demonstrate and teach how to dance "samba de gafieira".

Brazilian Art Classes & Workshops
Discover Brazil through the arts!

at Key Biscayne Community Art Center

The Brazil-USA Cultural Center (CCBU), along with Key Biscayne artist Silvana Soriano, are offering a series of classes and workshops for children focused on the art and culture of each of the 2014 FIFA World Cup host cities.

The program intends to provide a variety of creative artistic experiences while promoting and enriching knowledge about Brazilian culture and language. During these workshops (which students will have the opportunity to create art projects based on the artistic production of each region and learn various artistic procedures such as drawing, printmaking, painting, sculpture and installation.

Brazilian Art Classes
The 3-week sessions offered on Fridays will focus on 2014 FIFA World Cup host cities.

Session 2 Curitiba September 27-October 11
Session 3 Natal October 18-November 15

(no class Nov. 29)
Member Fee $90/session or $35/class
Non-Member Fee $108/session or $42/class

Brazilian Art Workshops

The Saturday workshops will focus on the following cities: Curitiba, Permambuco and Fortaleza. The class fee includes materials and take-home projects.

Projeto Impresso: Regress to the Imaginary

Centro Cultural Brasil-USA and Società Dante Alighieri hosted the opening of the exhibit "Regress to the Imaginary" on September 4 at the SDA Gallery.

Eleven Brazilian artists part of the "Projeto Impresso" group, exhibit their works inspired on the work of Italian writer Italo Calvino. Silvana Soriano, one of the participant artists is also the exhibit's curator.

The exhibit celebrates the Brazilian independence.
