CCBU PRESENTED Cultural Cup 2.0:
Fortaleza & Natal at Books & Books
Wednesday May 8

Allan Maquiera, Brazilian dance rhythms researcher and extraordinary dance instructor

The Centro Cultural Brasil-USA da Florida (CCBU) presented a double dose of Brazilian culture and a lively class of "Forró", the typical northeastern Brazil rhythm.

Natal and Fortaleza the two cities focused on that session of the Copa Cultural 2.0 Series, share many similarities. Before becoming important touristic destinations and vibrant economic centers, from the 16th century to mid 20th, in different periods, both cities were marked by the presence of the Portuguese, Dutch and even Americans. Participants also had the chance of experiencing "forró", the contagious and typical dance rhythm characteristic of these two cities in a class with Brazilian dance instructor Allan Maquieira. Mr. Maquieira gives free Brazilian ballroom dance classes on Mondays, 9:30 p.m. , at Boteco Restaurant, North Miami.
