Broward Center for the Performing Arts - Amaturo Theater

This astonishing show is brought to life by a remarkably versatile group of 40 singers. Tuning in ideas across boundaries and decades, the show takes the audience on a journey through the Brazilian rhythms of Bossa Nova, Samba, and Pop with taiko drummers, flamenco dancers and special appearance of the award-winning pianist Antonio Adolfo.

These talented voices along with their band will perform original arrangements, interpreting Djavan, João Bosco, Milton Nascimento, Elis Regina, Marisa Monte, and Caetano Veloso among others. Don't miss the sounds and beats of Brazilian music in a new light, and go beyond the usual.

Aloysio Vasconcellos and Adriana Sabino, respectively the presidents of BBG and CCBU signed a Memorandum Of Understanding on Thursday, April 19.

The MOU establishes a partnership between the two community organizations founded and administered by volunteers. This partnership will be mutually beneficial for the organizations and will benefit the Brazilian communities in Boca Raton and Miami Dade.

The agreement was signed at BBG's monthly business lunch, in which the Consul General of Brazil was the keynote speaker.

BBG was founded as a chamber of commerce congregating Boca Raton's Brazilian companies and entrepreneurs. It enlarged its mission by creating the "Manhãs Brasileiras" (Brazilian Mornings) a social, educational and sports program on Saturdays.

Despite the bad weather adults and children came to the Key Biscayne Library on Saturday to “visit” the Brazilian Southern city of  Curitiba.

Centro Cultural Brasil-USA da Flórida(CCBU), in partnership with the Miami Dade Public Library System is presenting “Cultural Cup/ Copa Cultural” a yearlong cultural tour of the twelve 2014 World Cup Host Cities.

The tour begun in January at the West Dade Regional Library, with Belo Horizonte. Brasilia and Recife followed in February and March respectively. In April the focus of the Cultural Cup was  Curitiba.

The adult participants enjoyed a great video about the city and the excellent talk given by the Brazilian architect and urban planner who lives and works in Miami, Maria Elisa Mercer.

The little ones had a blast at a “green workshop” presented by artist and arts educator Silvana Soriano. The children recycled and made paper colored and scented with fruits, spices and seeds.

Join us again at the Key Biscayne Library,  May 19, when CCBU will bring the  Cultural Cup to Manaus. click to see all picture
