RIO CIDADE OLÍMPICA / RIO OLYMPIC CITY: The world’s attention turned to Rio, in anticipation to the 2016 Olympic Games. Throughout 2016’s first semester, CCBU celebrated original aspects of “carioca” culture.

27 BRAZILIAN CONTEMPORARY THEATER READING: Silêncio
SILÊNCIO, a play by young playwriter Renata Mizrahi opened the series of Contemporary Brazilian Theater Readings on Fourths Wednesdays. The series, presented by CCBU, was created and is curated and directed by actor and director Roberto Lobo Neto.

CCBU Donated art work to Downtown Doral Charter Elementary School.
The donation of an oil painting to Downtown Doral Elementary School, symbolized
’s  support of the school and its Portuguese-English program which opened in August 2015 and, after the one at Ada Merritt K-8 Center, is the second immersion bilingual Portuguese- English program in Miami –Dade’s public school system. SOUNDS OF RIO: From Choro to Funk, the music and the stories of the Olympic City
Clube do Choro opened the program Sounds of Rio, a series of monthly performances by superb Brazilian musicians of South Florida, each dedicated to a musical genre from Rio, with commentaries and stories by Gene de Souza, host of the weekly show Café Brasil on WDNA, FM 88.9.
