CCBU AT THE FALL FOR THE ARTS 2010

The best of Miami-Dade cultural and community service organizations came together to celebrate the kickoff of the arts season. Visitors were able to watch performances on 2 stages, participate in seminars on community-based topics, enjoy festival food and register for discounts and giveaways from over 100 arts and community service organizations.

More than 500 people visited the CCBU booth on Sunday, September 12 at the Fall For The Arts Festival, organized by the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. Visitors who registered with us participated in drawings of upcoming DJAVAN concert tickets (donated by Rhythm Foundation) and baskets of Brazilian cultural goods. Click to view all photos

2010 RECIPIENTS OF THE
CCBU-ODEBRECHT-TAM SCHOLARSHIPS ARE CHOSEN

CCBU CONGRATULATES the 2 new recipients of the CCBU-ODEBRECHT-TAM Scholarships. Solange Malavazi an Education Major and  Jonathan Eidam an Economics and Mathematics Major are the two new recipients of the CCBU-ODEBRECHT-TAM Scholarships.

On September 18, 2007, Mr. José Sampol, General Director of TAM Brazilian Airlines in Miami, and Mr. Gilberto Neves, President of ODEBRECHT Construction, together with Adriana Sabino, President of Centro Cultural Brasil-USA da Flórida, presented to the Miami-Dade College Board of Trustees, the gift of $40,000.00 that provides the basis to the establishment of the Centro Cultural Brasil-USA Scholarship Fund and the TAM Brazilian Airlines Scholarship and ODEBRECHT Scholarship.

Recipients of the the CCBU-ODEBRECHT-TAM Scholarships are awarded to individuals who are degree-seeking students, enrolled in or accepted for admission to the Miami-Dade College, who demonstrated good academic performance and are able to read, write and speak Portuguese with fluency.

CCBU congratulates students, teachers and administrators of ADA MERRITT's K-12 Center on the exceptional FCAT's results

Ada Merritt's students of every grade tested, placed first, second, or third, in all subjects.

Mrs. Lenita O'Rourke fourth grade math students were ranked first in all Miami-Dade County Public School System (the fourth in size in the country).

Ada Merritt K-12 Center is the only public school in the U.S. that has a dual language (immersion) program Portuguese-English.

CCBU is a supporter of this program since its creation in 2003.
